Řada protagonista, Simon původně začínal jako chlapec na začátku příběhu, který utrpěl nízké sebevědomí kvůli jeho nedostatku rodičů a strachu zemětřesení. I když fyzicky nerozvinutý na svůj věk a ignoroval dospělé a urazil dívky, Simon je váženým bagr v Giha Village. Simon se nakonec ujal Kamina, jehož inspirativní projevy začnou mu dostatek důvěry, aby sebrat odvahu a přijmout opatření, záchvaty intenzivního určení. Hledání Lagann během jeho kopat, Simon se připojí Kamina při přechodu na povrch, kde se do něj zamiluje Yoko než učení, že má city pro Kamina. Když Kamina zemřel během formování týmu Dai-Gurren, Simon je hozen do rozzuřený a všudypřítomné deprese, řidičský ho, aby byl příliš agresivní v boji, zatímco izolace se mezi Teamu. Ale setkání Simonova s Nia mu pomáhá přijít na odhalení o jeho vlastní přirozenosti, což vede k němu odhazovat své obavy a pochybnosti o tom, že přebírá roli Kamina jakožto Team Dai-Gurren vůdce. 

 

V druhé polovině série, značně línější a nadměrné optimista, dospělý Simon plánuje manželský Nia, dokud Anti-Spiral Race používá ji začít svůj útok na Zemi. To má za následek s Simon byl poslán do vězení vládou na zmírnění lidí, později se uvolňuje s virovými nápovědou vzít zpět Cathedral Terra, jak se vede tým Dai-Gurren uložit Nia a zničit Anti-spirála. Správa vzít Nia, než se vytratí, Simon dává Lagann k Gimmy, když opustí své přátele, aby toulat planetu pod nízkým profilem jako bezejmenného tuláka. V epilogu, starý muž, který Simon dohlíží na své kamarády, kterým se stanoví kontaktovat jiné závody po celé galaxii, abyste zabránili spirály Nemesis a zajistit bezpečnost vesmíru

The series protagonist, Simon originally started off as a boy in the beginning of the story who suffered a low self-esteem due to his lack of parents and fear of earthquakes. Though physically underdeveloped for his age and ignored by adults and snubbed by girls, Simon is a valued digger in Giha Village. Simon is eventually befriended by Kamina, whose inspirational speeches start to give him enough confidence to muster his courage and take action in bouts of intense determination. Finding Lagann during his dig, Simon joins Kamina in going to the surface where he develops a crush on Yoko before learning she has feelings for Kamina. When Kamina died during the formation of Team Dai-Gurren, Simon is thrown into a maddened and pervasive depression, driving him to be overly aggressive in combat while isolating himself among the Team. But Simon's meeting with Nia helps him come to a revelation about his own nature, leading to him discarding his fears and doubts as he takes over Kamina's role as Team Dai-Gurren's leader.

 

In the second half of the series, considerably lazier and excessive optimist, an adult Simon planned to married Nia until the Anti-Spiral Race uses her to begin their attack on Earth. This results with Simon being sent to jail by the government to ease the people, later breaking free with Viral's help to take back Cathedral Terra as he leads Team Dai-Gurren to save Nia and destroy the Anti-Spiral. Managing to marry Nia before she fades away, Simon gives Lagann to Gimmy as he leaves his friends to wander the planet under a low-profile as a nameless vagrant. In the epilogue, the old man that Simon oversees his comrades setting out to contact other races throughout the galaxy to help prevent the Spiral Nemesis and ensure the safety of the universe
